The Rapid Qualitative PCT Test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a rapid immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of Procalcitonin in whole blood, serum or plasma. The Rapid Qualitative PCT Test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a qualitative lateral scrolling immunoassay for the detection of PCT in whole blood, serum or plasma. The membrane is pre-coated with anti-PCT antibodies on the test line area.
During the test, the serum or plasma sample reacts with the particle coated with anti-PCT antibody. The compound migrates upwards on the membrane chromatographically by capillary action to react with the anti-PCT antibodies on the membrane and generates a colored line.
As a procedural control, a colored line will always appear in the control region (C) to indicate that the correct volume of sample has been used and that the membrane has been soaked. C-reactive protein (CRP) in patient serum has been found in association with acute infections, necrotic conditions and various inflammatory disorders.
There is a strong correlation between serum levels of PCR and the activation of the inflammatory process. Monitoring the PCR levels in the patient’s serum helps to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and the recovery status of the patient. It is used in particular to distinguish bacterial from viral infections.
